Lesson Description

“Lights, Camera, Action!” These are the famous words that are often uttered from behind the camera on a movie set. Although the storyline and what everyone sees produced in the end happens in front of the camera, without the vision and work of a director, none of it could happen. The same is true in directing a ministry to children. Some of the work is in the limelight, but much of the nitty-gritty details come through preparation, calling the shots, and even sitting back and letting others take the lead.

Successful children’s ministry directors develop leaders, mentor emerging leaders, work with committees/boards, serve their lead pastor, and so much more. In this lesson, we will discuss how each of these components come together and how they are part of God’s design so that His mission is moved forward, and His Kingdom is advanced. We will identify practical ways for the children’s pastor or director to relationally do each of these tasks. We will also consider strategies for directing with excellence.
